Scott And Melanie Blackmon?

The AI slop blogger David Flash recently generated another article about his antics in Jeff Davis County. It’s just more of his typical BS making claims about Jeff Davis County characterizing his take down is him having fallen. He does not produce any documentation, like a legal filing, that would back up his claims. Who knows what Jeff Davis County actually did. It certainly would not be prudent to believe anything David Flash says without proof.

There is an interesting section in that article. Flash writes about “Scott and Melanie Blackmon.” Flash claims he passed a note to Melanie Blackman, realtor at Limpia Realty in Fort Davis and at that time still secretary of the Jeff Davis County Republican Party, so that he could accurately record the name of someone else. But strangely he got Matt and Melanie Blackman’s names wrong in the article. Perhaps AI made the mistake when generating the article and Flash did not bother to proof read it. Again, never trust anything that Flash publishes.

This would not be worth mentioning here except that Flash went on to say that Melanie had tipped Flash to attend the meeting that day. This is interesting because Melanie apparently had done the same thing two years earlier. In 2023 Flash went to a Commissioners Court meeting to live stream and had a tantrum when Justice of the Peace Mary Ann Luedecke told him that he must remove his hat in court as everyone is required to do. He wrote, or generated text with AI, that he “was tipped off by a local realtor to attend the meeting due to concerns about the county budget process.” A real journalist would have been more careful not to out a source like that. Everyone in Fort Davis knows that there’s only one local realtor that would do such a thing, Melanie Blackman.

When this reporter started the Big Bend Times Dot Org project, he started by researching the article Flash had generated regarding Jeff Davis County. When he read that article he assumed Melanie Blackman might have been showing Flash properties and simply shared her concerns with Flash while riding in a vehicle together. That was April of 2024 when this reporter saw the article about the meeting in 2023. This reporter gave Melanie the benefit of the doubt at that time and did not follow up with her.

The next year in 2025 Flash showed up to another budget meeting. This was two years after the first meeting that Melanie tipped of Flash and the same infamous meeting where Flash was taken down after he resisted while being removed from the courtroom. The same incident that Flash turned into a literal federal case against the county. Flash had previously bragged about costing the county over $200k in costs due to his antics. By now the number could be over half a million dollars.

After the take down Flash was being questioned by Sheriff Victor Lopez and he volunteered that Melanie Blackman had emailed him to suggest he go to the meeting that day. Back in 2023 Flash was still unknown in the community and someone like Melanie Blackman could be forgiven for tipping him off since it’s reasonable that in 2023 she may not have been aware of David Flash’s mental state and strange behavior. But by 2025, he was well known. For the secretary of the Republican Party to be working with a crazy, radical left, law enforcement hating, wannabe journalist who had already cost the county so much time, money, and grief seems to be far beyond the pale. After this reporter saw the body cam video where Flash outs Melanie, he called her to let her know that Flash had outed her as working with Flash several times. She did not deny it. Her response was “It doesn’t matter, I don’t have any friends in this town anyway.”

If you live in Jeff Davis County and are concerned about your property taxes then you should know that David Flash has cost this county a lot of money and the amount continues to grow due to his federal lawsuit. Even if he isn’t lucky enough to get any judgement out of the county, we are all still paying a lot of money to defend against the case in court. It’s fair to say that none of this might have happened if Melanie Blackman wasn’t working with Flash, sending him emails telling him he should attend Commissioners Court, long after it was apparent to almost everyone that Flash is looking for trouble.
