This news site has been committed to figuring out why a blogger name David Wayne Flash started coming to West Texas a few years back. Our publisher, Holly Pearson, started by examining the articles posted to his blog. It started just as pictures and then some restaurant reviews, but then it changed. Flash began using his blog to attack law enforcement, and then elected officials. He attacked local business groups and local businesses. Then there was the strange announcement of a pride event in Fort Davis. It was as though a switch flipped in Flash’s head and he just couldn’t help himself.
Our publisher wondered if there could be something deeper. Flash has said on FB in the past that he has a masters degree in journalism. We haven’t caught him doing that in some time. He actually has an online masters degree in Digital Audience Strategy from a school Stephen Colbert once described as a diploma mill. Someone once described the degree as a Masters Degree In Clickbait, which feels accurate. Flash was described in a terrible article at Texas Tribune as new to journalism. But here he is back in 2020 with a different blog posing as a journalist. He was recently, strangely, seen in Fort Davis distributing flyers offering his “marketing” services. I guess these days the line between marketing and journalism doesn’t really exist anyway, but Flash really does take it to the extreme.
Our publisher still wondered about David’s motivations. Besides being a blogger that posts almost entirely AI generated slop content, David also seems to be the marketing guy at a steam cleaning company. Could it be that simple? Is David using his antics in West Texas to drive traffic to his sites and help him gain credibility online? Well we still aren’t positive, but we have found evidence here that K&M Steam Cleaning is part of David’s quest to smear Jeff Davis County Officials. One wonders why K&M Steam Cleaning would go to such lengths to push a story about their VP of Marketing and his strange behavior in West Texas.
