Our staff reporter was recently in Alpine doing journalism and heard an interesting story. A former employee of Amigo told us about an occurrence that happened a couple of years ago. There was a band playing at Amigo one night when David Flash walked in the door with his cellphone in hand and his dog with him. He walked around the floor by the stage putting his phone right up in peoples’ faces, including the band. Everyone was looking at him wondering what his problem was. The server tried to resolve the situation and was not able to. She went back to talk to the person telling us the story explaining she had already told Flash he could not have his dog in the restaurant per the health code.

The person telling the story was manager that night and they walked out to confront Flash. They told him he needed to take the dog outside or in the other area that is not part of the restaurant, stating they knew Flash had already been told this. Flash responded with a comment that started “That bitch…” Flash refused to leave and took his phone and put it right in the manager’s face. The manager said they did not give Flash permission to photograph. Flash claimed he had the right. If you are on someone’s property and they tell you you are not allowed to photograph, you aren’t. At this point the manager was done with it and told Flash he needed to leave the premises immediately. Flash continued to refuse. By this time another employee had circled around Flash and put their hand on Flash to begin physically removing him. As soon as the person touched Flash, he screamed and began crying that he had been assaulted. Flash threatened to call the police. The manager encouraged Flash to call the police and Flash did so. As soon as Flash hung up the phone, he turned and ran out of the building and down the street. The police arrived within moments. Before the manager could begin to say what happened the police described Flash exactly. David had been causing problems all over town that night and they were already looking for him. The police then asked the manager to call if Flash is seen again as they would like to talk to him.
If this story sounds strangely familiar, it’s because it’s very similar to the day Flash took a dive in the courtroom in Jeff Davis County. Same thing, he came in with his camera, was violating rules and refusing to stop. Then as soon as someone touched him he screamed assault. It’s the same M.O. He’s been practicing his tricks for years. Luckily Amigo was not the focus of Flash’s continued harassment after that day.
