Our publisher heard a rumor that on one of David Flash’s strange trips to Fort Davis this year, Flash talked to a local. His trips here are strange because he will come through town running around taking a bunch of pics in the middle of the day when lighting is bad. And he has to run in places and quickly take pictures before anyone recognizes him. Then he runs out the door and off to the next spot. He rarely stays the night in town, usually only when he has to appear in court the next day.
The local that Flash was talking to asked Flash if he was that ‘journalist’ that uses AI, mentioning that using AI seems unethical. Flash immediately countered that he does not use AI, according to the account from the local. This person asked if Flash uses other peoples copyrighted material on his websites and Flash again immediately denied doing so. The local mentioned they knew of an instance where Flash posted something without attribution that a friend of their’s had written. Flash still uses pictures on his blogs that are scraped from other sources without permission. About a year ago Flash’s AI slop websites would include an image credit, almost always a link to FB. But these days Flash doesn’t credit anyone for the pics he reposts without permission.
No matter what Flash tells people when cornered, we know he uses AI to produce his slop articles. And it’s not really fair to call his posts ‘articles.’ It’s just a few very short paragraphs that reads like AI slop summaries of something someone else posted on FB. Here are some recent examples:
Not much in those articles and one would be better off if they found the original source instead of Flash’s AI slop summary. But how else would people be better off without David Flash and his Al slop blogs? Flash discusses his use of AI here:
Flash claims the Data Gathering stage of his process is performed by his editorial team. But as far as we can tell, David doesn’t have a team. It’s just him. He even says that in a blog post begging for people to work for him. Our editorial team at Big Bend Times thinks that Flash has a service that checks FB groups and reproduces things that are posted to those groups. So anytime there is a post on FB somewhere that Flash isn’t blocked, his service picks it up and sends it over to his AI slop service to produce an AI Slop Summary. Imagine how many AI prompts that is. In addition, how much is Flash using ChatGPT in his regular life? He states on FB Live that he uses it all the time.
One if the biggest stories in Texas right now is the explosion of AI data centers. Construction is being planned all over the state without any regard for the resources needed to run them or the communities they hope to operate in. David Flash has not mentioned this story on any of his blogs or FB pages that we can locate. Certainly it would not make sense for Flash to cover such an important story since it is in direct conflict with his business model. Just like the tech industry as a whole, Flash surely cares little about the negative effects of his AI use as long as he is getting likes on FB. We are living in the age of The Business Idiot. And it seems most of the Business Idiots are in AI.
If one looks at the large number of prompts Flash uses to produce his AI Slop blogs and FB content, things start to add up quick. There have been many studies about the resource use of AI. This article at earthday.org talks about the possibility of responsible use of AI and making it more efficient. But the truth is the AI industry is not in a good place. They need tons of money and too many data centers if they want to survive. And they aren’t likely to make it.
People like David Flash are the only ones propping the whole thing up. The people who are actually paying AI companies for the slop they produce. And that’s the best part of all of this. AI companies currently subsidize their product pricing with investor money. That can’t last forever. In the near future, it will cost Flash a lot more for each AI slop post he makes. A whole lot more. And then hopefully the entire business model will collapse. It’s just a question of how much damage to society Flash, and the AI industry he supports, will do before the collapse happens. It’s not just the damage to reputations he does with his Grudge Articles and constant hammering of entire communities with his ridiculous antics.
AI data centers are built around NVIDIA products that are only useful for AI. If the AI industry collapses, those data centers will be worthless. So beyond the cost of each ChatGPT prompt in power use, carbon emissions, water use, and land destruction, there’s the likelihood that once the AI industry fails, their data centers will sit unused and decaying. The companies will be gone and regular people will have nothing to do but pay for the cleanup themselves. And it will be interesting to see how quickly it all falls apart.
Our team of technical experts did an exhaustive calculation and determined the cost of the Big Bend Reporter blog, formerly the 2nd rate Big Bend Times that was overshadowed by Big Bend Times Dot Org, in AI usage. As of today, Flash has posted right at 5,270 AI slop articles to Big Bend Reporter Blog, formerly the 2nd rate Big Bend Times that was overshadowed by Big Bend Times Dot Org.
Required resources to date:
142.4327 metric acres of Data Center build
176.29327 Megawatts Electric Power
51.327 Billion Gallons Fresh Water
645.5327 Metric Tons of Carbon Emissions
53.68327 Tons of E Waste
Our publisher can assure you that our technical team did not just pull these numbers out of thin air. We asked ChatGPT.

Surprised he has not made any posts about his upcoming trial for speeding….not sure what will be more entertaining, Flash or the prosecutor….
Funny thing is, after our Sheriff had to do a pit maneuver on a guy a few months back, Flash immediately posted on his blog about “questions raised” and wildlife put at risk by the case. Then the idiot comes out here in a rental car and is driving eighty miles an hour down the highway. Same thing with the recent incident where shots were fired. Flash immediately posted on his blog “questions raised” long before any actual facts about the incident came out.
