We have big news here at Big Bend Times Dot Org. On April 28th, 2025, just about one year ago, this site went live with the first 6 stories, followed by many more. That same day The Black Bear Restaurant at The Indian Lodge opened for the first time in a couple of years. Our staff reporter was there that day and just happened to see some of Jeff Davis County’s elected officials enjoying lunch. The picture above was taken by our staff reporter to commemorate the occasion.

That picture is cropped from the original here. That’s because we don’t want to cause anymore trouble for the Texas Parks and Wildlife employee that appears in the original picture. You see, at the last moment, someone invited the two parks employees to join in this picture. When David Flash saw the website and the story about the Black Bear, he must have been pretty angry. He contacted TPWD and complained about the employees, accusing them of colluding with a ‘smear site.’ He did the same with the county officials. It was a pretty sad episode to see how low David will stoop to try and create trouble for anyone he perceives as his enemy.
David has posted this picture on his blog site. While David has complained that we take his content, he has been happy to take our content and post it according to Fair Use. When our publisher wrote the article What Is K&M Steam Cleaning Up To?, they used a cropped version of a picture of a K&M van from their website. We were using this picture under the same Fair Use principal that David uses our pics under. Well since David is such a little bitch, he complained to our web host about the picture of the K&M van. He used a DMCA take down request. This is a common tactic used by unethical people to silence hard working journalists. The Freedom Of The Press Foundation has a good explanation of how it works here. While David Flash is always ready to claim the rights of a journalist, he often seems to be using unethical tactics against other journalists.
Our web host sent us an email saying they had removed the photo and explained how to file a counter claim. We decided not to file the counter claim. Big Bend Times Dot Org has been growing fast now that we are established as The Most Trusted Big Bend Times. We have a team in Austin. The team was tasked with getting pictures of the vans at K&M and we had them the next morning. Two stories about K&M were updated with pictures taken the day before. Those pictures are Copyright Big Bend Times Dot Org.

David can complain about us all he wants, we aren’t going away. Our first year was a fun project. The second year we are going to be kicking it up a notch. Look for more updates here as our second year begins.

Good to know there’s another perspective
