Well as most of us already know, David W Flash has continued to provoke trouble in Jeff Davis County. At his court appearance weeks ago, his lawyer tried to claim the bond condition that Flash not come within 300 feet of county offices was unconstitutional. The judge said to his lawyer after some questioning “Nice try.” She did not agree the bond condition was unconstitutional or illegal. You might not know that if you have only heard what Flash has published about it. After the judge shut Flash’s lawyer down for his ridiculous argument, she asked the attorneys representing JDC what their opinion was and they had no objection to removing the bond condition. It was removed but never declared illegal. Flash has been publishing false statements about it ever since.
At the very next Commissioners Court meeting, Flash demonstrated why the bond condition was in place to begin with. Flash showed up halfway through the meeting to photograph. He then moved all around the courtroom, standing up, crawling on the floor, and approaching the Sheriff twice to demand he pose for a photo during the meeting. He was talking to people and causing as much disruption as he could while recording video that did not show the whole story.
The brave journalists at The Big Bend Sentinel have posted some of the body cam footage of that day. Flash has previously caused problems for the people at The Sentinel, so we are very please to see them stand up to Flash’s bullying. While the body cam footage is great and really demonstrates how Flash was clearly disrupting the meeting, there is one detail that is not caught in the body cam footage.
Flash has just recently continued his bullying of another business that does real journalism instead of the AI slop clickbait that Flash posts online. Jeff Davis County Mountain Dispatch did a story about the meeting from July 27th and included some facts that David Flash is confused about. Flash of course posted on the internet in a long tirade against our beloved local paper. He states, hilariously, that ‘The Dispatch article attributed the line “You are disrupting a public meeting” to Judge Curtis Evans. Flash reviewed the full recording of the June 27 commissioners court meeting and says the judge never made that statement.’ Of course Flash once again strangely quotes himself and writes about himself in the 3rd person in this ranting post.
The real journalists at Big Bend Times Dot Org are locals in JDC, and we know that there were court cameras as well as body cameras recording that day. And we are pleased to announce we have gone live on YouTube! Anyone interested can review the court camera video here. At 10:38 in Part 3, one can hear The Honorable Judge Curtis Evans say “You have disrupted a public meeting.” Is Flash actually trying to get the Mountain Dispatch to change the quote from “are disrupting” to “have disrupted?” Or did he only listen to the bodycam video where the comotion drowns out what Judge Evans is saying and didn’t hear it at all?
This whole episode paints a picture of David W Flash as a very troubled person who is willing to continuously harass businesses and county officials in Jeff David County just to further his attempt to profit from the controversy that he himself created. Never before has someone claimed to be a journalist only to make himself the subject of his stories. Community members, constitutional scholars, and legal experts around the globe are following the story and hope that David Flash is able to get help and recover from the ongoing grandiose delusions. Everyone is wondering which county official or business he will go after next.
We look forward to going through all of the video and highlighting all of the very strange statements David Flash makes on body cam. Much of it is available at The Sentinel’s YouTube, but we will have more with additional commentary. We hope to have more video posted soon, but we are going to be busy reporting from Viva Big Bend for a few days. Hope to see you all there.
He should just change the name to Big Bend Blog since there’s no actual news stories he creates, using a crawler/scraper to pull news stories from other sources he posts doesn’t count. It’s just about his odd personal life and whatever county official or business he’s targeting this week. This dude definitely has multiple conversations in his head at once.
