Previously this site took a look at a fake controversy by David Flash, relating to his apparent obsession with a county vehicle that a county official has access to. We also took a deep dive into a grudge Flash has with a local law enforcement officer who requested he follow the rules. As we researched the fake controversy with the truck, we stumbled on something. It appears the fake controversy with the truck is part of a series of grudge articles relating to Justice of the Peace Mary Ann Ludecke. Flash lays out a timeline of the fake controversy’s he has created here. That first item in the timeline is labeled Sept 12th , 2023, but the article it links to was written the following March, sorry the March after that, 2025.
Why did Flash wait almost 2 years to write an article that opens by saying “The first documented interaction between Jeff Davis County Justice of the Peace Mary Ann Luedecke and Big Bend Times publisher David Flash…?” Clearly David was flustered after being asked to remove his hat in the courtroom during commissioners court. Later in the article:
“Flash, who had been livestreaming the meeting as part of his reporting, was calm and respectful throughout the incident. Surprised by the public reprimand, he stopped the livestream shortly afterward to reset and refocus. The clip was not saved. Although he had every right to document what happened, Flash did not anticipate needing the footage and initially hoped to de-escalate the situation and maintain professionalism.”
Flash opened the post by stating “The first documented interaction between…” and yet shortly after admits the recording of the incident was lost. So there is no existing documentation of the encounter. We have to take Flash at his word. And it appears he was so shocked by being asked to remove his hat in the courtroom that he needed to “reset and refocus.” This happened on Sept 12, 2023. In his own timeline, 3 days later Flash saw his other grudge victim, Officer Jacob Barton, pull someone over and posted about it on the internet the following month. Was the JP’s request that David Flash remove his hat the genesis of his grudges with Jeff Davis County?
Big Bend Times Dot Org has talked to witnesses who were at the meeting when David was asked to remove his hat. They report that after the meeting Flash was banging on the JP’s door with extreme hostility, although he claims the entire encounter was calm and professional. Since this time witnesses have seen Flash in the courthouse with camera recording and walking into any room he can while people are having meetings or simply trying to get some work done. Yet Flash regularly posts on the internet claiming things like “…Flash responded with kindness and professionalism. He gave her the benefit of the doubt, sought to maintain a cordial relationship, and made no effort to sensationalize what had occurred.” In a post where Flash seeks to sensationalize someone asking him to remove his hat in court, he states that he made no effort to do just that.
Since September 2023, Flash has been busy posting anything he can about the JP. In this strange grudge article from Oct 30, 2024 he gets his AI to generate text making it seem that JP isn’t a good Christian. This article’s titile begins “Stepping Over the Line…” and he seems to be referencing JP with that, but #ThisReporter thinks it’s much more fitting for Flash in this instance. “From the extravagant misuse of public resources to hostile engagements with the press and public, Judge Luedecke’s conduct raises significant concerns about her adherence to the principles she outwardly displays.” The extravagant misuse of public resources he is claiming is The Infamous Truck of Jeff Davis County. Readers may already have read about that fake controversy. The “hostile” engagements with the press and public, well Flash doesn’t claim anything in his posts on the internet other than the transgressions Flash perceives JP has committed against Flash himself. One could I guess consider Flash a member of the press and the public at the same time, so maybe that statement could be considered accurate? The generated text goes on to accuse JP of various violations of Christian principles with a lot of words but not much content. But the article does continue to paint a picture of someone posing as a journalist with a pattern of harassment against Jeff Davis County officials.
This is a good place to add an update about the truck. When someone passes away in Jeff Davis County the Justice of the Peace becomes responsible for their remains until they are transferred to the funeral home or mortuary. In many remote areas of the county, an ambulance cannot travel. When situations like this happen in JDC, the JP transports the remains in their vehicle. Other counties may have access to other transport options like aircraft, but JDC has to make due as best they can. Right now, that means the JP gets access to a county truck, which seems to be much cheaper than buying a helicopter. And it makes perfect sense for the JP to drive the truck home so it is available should a call come in the middle of the night.
In yet another strange grudge article, Flash points out that JP’s family receives federal subsidies. The AI generated text that details the publicly available information related to the subsidies. There is nothing odd about any of it, just regular info that points to nothing being wrong. Next, the AI summarizes David Flash’s silly complaints about the JP, and mentions many times the “judicial complaints” against her. This reporter has not been able to identify any judicial complaints from anyone other than Flash. To sum this up, Flash found public info on the JP, and then likely fed it to his AI and asked it to summarize the info and add several paragraphs about Flash and his silly complaints. Then he posted it on the internet along with all the other posts just like it.
Speaking of just like it, there is another post to examine. This grudge post by David Flash details how JP was once in the film Dancer, Texas: Pop. 81. There are 2 paragraphs about her appearance in the film, followed by 2 paragraphs once again detailing that Flash has a grudge with our JP. That’s not all of the posts Flash has generated about Mary Ann Luedecke, but one can see how what has already been detailed paints a picture. A picture of an ad tech guy posing as a journalist trying to get as many keywords related to JP associated with Flash’s grudge. That’s why we see many articles covering many aspects of the JP’s life, all with a couple/few paragraphs about the grudge. Seems like a clear pattern.
This reporter hopes that anyone who has donated to Flash’s GoFundMe will consider requesting a refund. It doesn’t seem like David is really trying to fight corruption but that he is manufacturing controversy to drive traffic to his clickbait websites.
